Yes it does actually. There is a switch on the side with a built-in retractable lens cover;to open the lens cover push the switch upward and to close it push it downward.

The recording time you can obtain much depends on the size of your memory card and the HD recording quality setting that you select.

The highest quality setting obviously gives less record time;but with bigger capacity cards used this does increase at the maximum quality setting.

Hello,

The maximum continuously recordable time varies according to the battery's capacity, recording format and mode in which you wish to record. For instance, with the VBT 190 supplied battery you can record 2h 20 min in AVCHD format, 2 h 55 min in i Frame format, and 3 h in MP4. For the VBT 380 battery the maximum continuously recordable time varies from 5h 5 min up to 6 h 10 min.

I hope this is helpful.

Contrary to the other answer on here. this camcorder does not have an internal memory. You need to buy an sdcard or sdhc card. Look out for the number within a circle printed on the card. The higher the number, the faster it can write the video being recorded. I use a 10 which works fine.

Question
Can you please give more details on charging.
The problem I have with the descriptions for your entire range of camcorders it that you do not specify a means of charging. For example does it come with a mains charger, USB plug etc. etc. These are portable devices It would be useful to know whether the charging unit is dual voltage allowing use with 110v supplies abroad as well as with the 240v supplies in the UK. Additionally it would be useful to know whether in-car charging was possible with some kind of adapter.

Hi,

Specifically about this item, the item comes with both an AC adapter and USB cable of which both can charge the rechargeable battery.
There is no official accessory which would enable you to charge the battery through the car.
Concerning going abroad with the item, if used with the foreign adapter either way of charging battery would be ok.

Hope this helps.
