Best is to take your sound output from your TV which then gives you surround on any program. (Video, Sat, Freeview, etc.,). Many modern TV's have optical sound out which gives excellent sound to your AV system.

I think you'll have to buy the proper connection as there is only one outlet and that is for a digital audio. Perhaps if you used the split leads to connect from your monitor to the speakers/mixer.

This is a SCART-free product. The HDMI cable performs the same function as the old SCART lead, only better. Oh, and it's much more convenient.

Just correcting the response for regions.

BluRay and DVD regions are different (though both include Europe, Middle East and Africa).

BluRay region B/2:
Africa, Middle East, Southwest Asia, Europe (except Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan), Australia, New Zealand, and their dependencies.

DVD region 2:
Europe , Middle East, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Greenland, French Overseas departments and territories

Hi, Lilibet.

Yes, the Samsung BD-F6500 3D Smart Blu-ray and DVD Player does indeed feature TV catch-up. Blu-ray Region B refers to the region countries) the player is compatible with. Region B is Europe, Africa, Middle East, New Zealand, and of course, Australia. DVD Region 2 means exactly the same thing. I hope this is useful.

Have a good day!

I'm guessing, the connections should be good for any monitoring device, so long as the connections are compatible you could give it a try. Let me know how you get on. I'm becoming quite reference source for this machine.

Hi,

Having looked into this I have found out the BD-F6500 has built in wi-fi and a web browser, the BD-D5500 is more geared towards a wired Ethernet connection although wireless is possible with a dongle.

I hope this helps

Question
Digital audio ouput – optical or electronic?
Samsung's manuals show an optical output on the back of this player. The Argos picture shows a digital electronic output.

Which picture is correct?

Other answers suggest that it has a headphone output. That doesn't show in the pictures either. Where is it?

I don't work for Argos so I can't answer the first question except to say go with the manual over the Argos site. The model I have has no headphone outlet and a digital audio portal along with HDMI connection and LAN port.

Question
Can you connect a Hard Drive to it, or only USB sticks?
All our recent family videos are in AVCHD format. I'd like to connect a HDD to the Bluray player (not just a USB stick).

It is possible to connect a hard drive directly? If so, can a pocket USB hard drive get it's power directly from the Samsung's USB port, or would all external HDD's need their own power source?

Thanks.
