I've cooked a roast joint and potatoes but as yet no yorkshires, but I don't see why you couldn't.

Yes no problem. It can be used as a conventional fan oven.

Yes, you could. I'd do the meat using convection/microwave combination and do the yorkshire pudding on convection while the meat was resting. You'd have to do the potatoes and other vegetables in the traditional way.

You can certainly cook a roast on both microwave, convection or combination settings but I would think you could only cook yorkshire puddings using the convection feature.

Put the roast on the bottom plate then maybe cover it for the final 4 mins where you put yorkshire puds on the wire rack(assuming shop bought puds..I dont bother with making my own but I suppose you would use the base plate and longer cooking time..

the handbook states that it is not suitable for built in. it goes on to say it must have 150mm clear at top, 50mm on one side with the other side open and 100mm at rear. what distance constitutes "open" i do not know but you would only have 80mm clear in total at sides

Q.
using the combination with microwave or convection oven
I can't seem to work out how to use the combination with microwave or convection without the grill coming on. Every time I have used either, the food gets burnt with half the time still to run. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

It is important not to put any food or container in the oven until the heat has built up and the 'ping' invites you to set the time.

I think the grill part you are looking at is the actual cooking element , have you preheated the oven when you are using it? you can use it like an ordinary oven by just pressing combination and then low micro power , hope this helps its trial and error but there is also a helpline number on the back of the instruction booklet .

Q.
?chunk out of bottom door
Very pleased with oven which we have had for two weeks. However, last night I noted what looked like a chunk missing from bottom left of door as you look at the oven, also top of same side with what looked like some past missing.

Before taking back urgently, is this part of the design.

The door of the microwave should be sealed all around the product, as I can not see the product I am not sure quite what you mean.

A.
There is a rectangle (cardboard like) on the right panel near the light inside of the oven ,this must NOT be removed as it is the microwave feed guide.
I have this microwave and it states this on page 8 of instruction book.

Thank you for your question.

After looking into your query I can confirm that the Panasonic NN-CT559WBPQ Slimline Combi Microwave and Grill would need to be free of all cardboard as this would be for packaging purposes. We do advise you remove the cardboard as this could be a hazard to the user.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

Answer(s)
A.
Yes it has a convection oven setting - the grill element is used to heat the over and it uses an internal fan to circulate the hot air but the temp is auto set to 150C. I have not used this function and guess you would need to experiment to get the best out of it. You can also use it in combination mode with the Convection and microwave functions used to cook a meal.
