No as some apps are specifically for old versions of Android. Some have never been tested on a Nexus and some need Flash, which is not supported on 4.1.
BUT there are Tregra optimised THD/HD apps which were written specifically for this type of tablet which wornt work on old phones.
The biggest problem os limiting what you get as there still is an amazing amount of software out there..

I don’t see why not. Most technology is backwards-compatible.
There may well be older devices (earlier android versions) that don’t support all apps, but if you’re getting the latest OS then there shouldn’t be any problems.

Android itself will support the standard file types such as MP3, MPG etc. (file types that have free decoders). As other post says, there are many apps on the Google Play store that can play most media types out there.

As it's an Android device, there are numerous media players you can download from the Google Play Store via a wireless internet connection. Your bases will be very well covered in this regard.

Iplayer have released a new app called BBC Media Player which when installed downloads Adobe air instead of Flash. This lets you watch iplayer from the Chrome browser until they come up with a proper iplayer app.

Yes you can - but not via Google Play store.

You need to search for the Adobe Flash player for Android APK file and download and open it on the tablet to install Flash player. Then do the same again with the iPlayer for Android APK file.

Before you install either you'll need to enable the option 'install Apps from unofficial sources' (or something like that - I can remember the exact wording). That will enable your Nexus to install the APK from the download link you find on Google.

Generally, Googling for the APK files should turn up some good tutorials you can read first. Hope that helps.

There is no integrated storage expansion slot, if you wish to extend your storage you would have to purchase an OTG Cable, and get an App called Nexus Media Importer which allows you to connect the cable to the tablet as well as the storage devise.

Hope this helps.
Regards, Daniel.

To keep costs down, the Nexus does not have an HDMI port and also is not MHL compatible. You would have to look into wireless streaming options.
