Yes but with any lcd tv i wouldn't recommend using it often! Rather switch off from the mains socket as that is a much more robust switch

Yes it does, at he back of the TV on the left hand side, which is a bonus because the Samsung TV my son has in his bedroom does not have an on/off switch.

It will work... plug the external aerial into the DVD/VCR combi input the output aerial socket need a cable then to the TV socket... Its called daisy chaining... The aerial signal is passed to both the TV and DVD/VCR... There should be a scart connection at the back of your DVD.. connect a scart lead from this to your TV also.

The DVD / VCR will be treated as a different source input. With the TV on press the standby button on on the DVD and you can then play your DVD's on the TV. You should be able to record freeview programmes within the DVD/VCR combi still how you used to... Switch the standby button off on the DVD / VCR and the TV will use the TV freeview

it does not depend on area but on the tv itself, if its mpeg 4 you can but they dont tell you that ! Argos should have a section of tvs that are able to pick up rte, that would make it much easier for northern ireland customers !

I've purchased this tv and it only has one scart socket...but i agree the picture is misleading and contracdicts the specification details!

However, if having an extra scart socket is all you need for this to be the right tv for you, then i think i am right in saying that you can get an adaptor to convert one socket into multiple sockets.

Hope this helps.

It will play MPEG2 (DVD) and AVI (XVid) encoded movies from USB, some XVid seem not to play so it seems to depend on the codec.

Hi, thank you for your question.

Having spoken to our technical department, I can confirm that this TV will not allow you to record unless you have a Freeview box that has a recording feature. If you do have a box that will be included with the TV setup this will require a twin tuner to be able to record 2 channels at the same time.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry to say that I would be unable to provide you with a code as it would depend on what version of the Sky remote control you are using. However, in checking on the Sky website I can confirm that a number of codes are available for the Hitachi 32 Inch HD Ready Freeview LCD TV - Model L32HK04.

Question
Confusion over several power consumption figures given
The website details say the 'on mode' power consumption is 77.8W (and C rated). I've just bought one and the official Energy sticker says 58W (and B rated). The instruction booklet though and sticker on actual TV says 150W. Can someone explain these as 58W is good but 150W is very high.

Answer(s)
The answer from Argos was incomplete is that it didn't explain the other figures given. I contacted Hitachi who have said 'To clarify, this model has gone through a number of different stages of development, this is the fifth version altogether, and as a result this latest version has a lower power consumption than the first versions.

The correct on power consumption for this latest version of the model is as stated on the energy label, 58W

There are two methods of power consumption measurement, both are recognised laid down standards of measurement we must apply to give the two measurements.

There is the power consumption for the energy label, and the power consumption stated on this rating label is the maximum power consumption possible from that set and any instantaneous moment. To achieve this all settings have to be at maximum and the brightest white picture displayed.

The figure used for the energy label is much more indicative of the actual consumption in normal use, for this the TV’s consumption is measured over a fixed period of time displaying a normal received TV programme. The settings of the TV for brightness and contrast are the default ones that the TV is shipped with.
