Freesat recordable boxes need a dedicated separate tuner (one cable from dish) to record on and the other tuner is to allow you to freely view other sat channels (second cable from dish)
If you record on both inputs (tuners) your alternative is to watch something else that you have recorded on the HDD or continue watching a channel that is currently recording.-you can't change sat channel.
If you have a 4 line LNB-from dish. You can use the 3rd cable output to a separate Freesat (non-recordable) box and use that to view all Freesat channels, while your Humax is busy recording two channels -2 HDMI inputs to TV are all that are needed; one for the Humax and the other for the non-recordable box.(assuming you watch HD?) If not then use SCART.
As a cheaper solution:
If your tv has Freeview built in, then you can switch to that and peruse all freeview channels without affecting what your Humax freesat box is doing.

Hello, thank you for your question.

Having looked into your query, I can confirm the cable from you satellite is connected to the Humax 500GB Digital Set Top Box with Digital TV Recorder and then another cable needs to be connected from the recorder to your TV. This is the same process for all Freesat boxes to enable the TV to receive signal.

You can if your TV has built in freeview (as opposed to freesat). Make sure that your freesat box is tuned to one of the stations you want to record and then switch TV over to freeview and watch the channel you want to watch on there. It will only record the channel it is tuned to + one other. This way you can record two channels whilst watching another providing of course that the one you want to watch is available on freeview. Hope this makes sense

No, has two tuners built in (needs two feeds from the dish - if you had sky+ this is what you have) so you can only watch / record up to two programs at any one time

It can receive HD and SD, if you go to watch an SD channel and there is an HD channel available it will ask if you would like to watch in HD, similarly if you try to record in SD it will tell you HD is available and ask you if you want to record in HD.

Hi, thank you for your question.

Having looked into your query, I can confirm that the Humax 500GB Digital Set Top Box with Digital TV Recorder is compatible with older televisions providing the television has the correct scart socket. However, as the television will not be Full HD or HD Ready, the picture displayed will not be in high definition.

Thank you for your question,

After speaking to the manufacturer, I can confirm that this item is a Freesat box. Humax do sell this product in Freeview and Freesat. You are able to tell the difference by looking at the picture. If the box is Freeview it has a circle on the front and if the box is Freesat it should say FOXSAT. I have also checked this item with a member from our local store and it states this information on the packaging. I am sorry that there is conflicting information on our site and I have reported this so that the correct information is shown. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

Question
Do you need a different cable from the Dish to the recorder if you want to be able to record and watch another channel. I am totally confused!
I have a Sky sat dish which is presently on freeview with no package. I can only record and watch the same channel. Do I have to buy another double cable and do I have to have an installer to put it up!?
Thank you.
