From the handbook - If the back-up batteries are flat or not installed, your BT Big Button 200 will retain stored number information for up to 5 minutes if disconnected from the line.

HI Cath, thank you for your question regarding the BT Big Button 200 Corded Telephone.

I have checked with BT and they don't specify the dB level for the incoming sound amplifier due to the varying factors that can affect the quality of any incoming call.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

Question
the bt ig button 100 is advertised as for hard of hearing, is this phone the bt big button 200 loud enough for someone who is a bit deaf?

Using the handset, It's OK. It has inductance loop output for'T' setting too.

BUT! the phone is very poor for hands free. The outgoing speech keeps cutting out, probably because it's powered only from the telephone system and there is not enough power available to for the phone. It's worse if you use an extension lead, but even with just the supplied lead, it is useless.

Yes, it has a loud ring and a light flashes for an incoming call. On the phone you can adjust the person calling's volume with the up and down keys and there is the loud button which is very useful - it does the same thing. I got this phone for my mum who is very deaf and it works for me too who is a bit deaf.

Question
What are the batteries for?
I have this phone and it works ok without batteries. Please don't say it's in case of a power cut, as all phones take their power from the telephone socket.

The hands-free option doesn't work if the batteries are removed.

I could be wrong but it doesn't seem to use the batteries for amplification, only for the control circuitry.

Hi,

I have investigated this for you and cannot offer any explanation as to why the BT Big Button 200 Corded Telephone requires batteries. The only possible reason I can consider is that the "LOUD" function and speaker phone may require extra power to work properly.

Thanks for using Argos Q&A.

Hi Linn,

I have contacted our supplier with your question and they have advised the following:
"You can Adjust the ringer volume
There are 3 ringer volume levels to choose from:
High, Low or Off. The default setting is High.
1. Adjust the switch on the underside of the base to
the volume you want."

I hope this helps
