I have sensitivity to loud sounds, and I did find this model quite noisy, esp. when compared to the expensive model I decided to replace it with, It's no more noisy than similarly priced models though.

Once you've used it a handful of times, and got yourself a soft new toothbrush to clean it with, it isn't that hard to clean. You can make the job much easier if you rinse it under warm water with a dash of liquid soap within 10 min of using it.

After getting used to it, it took me about 3 min to give it a good scrub, then leave to dry on draining board. You do also need good light to clean it, because the dark plastic does make it harder to see residue.

If you have left it too long to clean, soak it in hot soapy water and then use a soft toothbrush. Never use really scratchy cleaning pads or harsh brushes, they will make tiny scratches on the surface of the plastic that will collect bacteria and make it smell. Soak it if needed instead.

Have a washing up brush and a large bowl or bucket of cold water nearby. Also a plastic carrier bag. Empty the pulp in the bag and swish the juicer parts in the cold water. 95% clean. Easy to use warm soapy water to finish off.

All juicers are going to be noisy, while the motor is running. Put the fruit/veg in the tube before turning it on and you only have to run it for short bursts. The secret to cleaning them is to rinse it right away, before drinking your juice. The longer you leave it, the more the sugers stick to the sides. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry but it's not true that any juicer of this type can peel the skin off fruit or veg. Neither can it core them. It simply takes everything you put down the chute, and slices it so fine, it becomes a mush, then it spins it so the juice flies out and comes out of the spout.

However, I have never felt the need to peel the fruit and veg. There may be pesticides on/in the skin, if it's not organic. But as we are told that the skin usually contains more nutrients, I leave it on.

As for coring, again, it's said that there can be unwanted chemicals in the pips, although these would be ''natural'' i.e not man made. I came to the conclusion that if I'm juicing a lot, more than half a pint a day, then I should remove the pips. If juicing less, I don't bother, the levels would be too low.
If its very important to you I suggest searching for in depth guides to juicing or asking on forums dedicated to juicing.

Thank you for your question.

After looking into your query, I can confirm that the Cookworks Signature Whole Fruit Juicer takes whole fruit and has both a pulp container and filter. It is therefore down to personal preference as to whether to peel and core fruit as any pips or peel will be caught in the container and filter.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

I owned this model and sucessfully juiced fresh ginger root with it :)
Juicing guides warn against juicing very strong smelling items such as garlic though, apparently it's nearly impossible to get the smell and taste out!

But ginger root is fine. Tastes great with carrot and beetroot juice too. Apple also works well with these veg!

Just remember to stop the machine, remove the filter (part of the spinning blade), and clean with a soft brush as soon as it looks full (you can't see the metal mesh anymore). Running the machine with an already full filter just loses you juice.

Don't keep jucing until the pulp container (waste bucket) is full. The filter becomes full up long before the (massive) pulp container does. So that's the thing to keep your eye on as you go.

No need to peel fruit or veg. No need to chop either unless they are very big e.g pineapple. Even then, you only need to chop it up to the size of an average apple.
Also, it's thought that the most nutrients/the best ones are concentrated in the skin. Alhtough there may also be unwanted chemicals.from fertilisers and pesticides. Despite this, I still found that I got significant imrpvoements in my health from juicing non-organic veg. Best ones are green veg, beetroot juice and carrot juice. Though try not make them too sweet, it may affect blood sugar levels. Esp. useful for those who struggle to digest solid foods or find chewing tiring due to illness.

I have found that slowly pouring some water into the machine while spinning does help get more juice out. But it does then become diluted of course.

This is so for all centrifugal juicers, though generally, the more expensive ones manage to extract more juice from the produce you feed into it. Masticating juicers are the most efficient, but also the most expensive.

I've found that the Phillips Avance cat no. 906/6069 gives about 20 to 30% more juice than the Cookworks juicer you're asking about. This is only an estimate though, I have not tested it with measuring equipment.

A few web sites do tell you the juice yield of various juicers. They usually focus (annoyingly) on top end models, though if you're lucky, they may now have tested cheaper ones too. Search and see what info you can find. The right juicer for you, regularly used can really improve your health, esp, if you have trouble eating large quantities of fruit and veg or digesting solids like me.

Hi, thank you for your question.

I have looked into this for you and can confirm that the Cookworks Signature Whole Fruit Juicer uses the whole fruit to make the juice and has a separate container for the pulp. It is down to personal preference if you would like to add water to dilute the fruit juice.

Hi, thank you for your question.

I have looked into your query for you and I can confirm that a store has taken a look in the instruction manual, and have stated there is a filter provided. This filter included will collect the residue from the food being juiced in this appliance, I do apologise the manual does not state that this filter will remove froth from cloudy juices.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.
