You can buy corn kernels at any large supermarket. Usually in the aisle with dried fruit/coconut and baking/cake mixes etc.

After referring to the user manual for the Sweet Treats STPOP001 Popcorn Maker, it is recommended that removable parts are washed in warm soapy water. I would therefore be inclined to say that they are not dishwasher safe.
