I have used other batteries in this charger than from the original ones that came with it, but they do need to be rechargable batteries though, so when you buy more batteries just check on the pack when you buy them.

Some chargers like mobile phone chargers can be used anywhere without worrying about the mains voltage. I wonder if this charger can work abroad, where sometimes the voltage supplied is 120V.
